Shadow of the Mystery Woman

The surly caretaker had seized each girl individually and gathered them all together in a hidden back room of the empty mansion. They were securely bound hand and foot and gagged so that none could speak above a whimper. He offered no explanation for his cruel deed. He seemed preoccupied with a lingering dread that he kept to himself as he locked the only door to the room on his way out.
The girls squirmed and struggled on the floor mumbling and grunting under their gags to no avail as the hands on the clock edged towards midnight. They were exhausted with their futile efforts by this time and resolved to relax in remorseful surrender. They were suddenly startled to attention by a rustling movement across the room. They were not alone! A long dark shadow was creeping across the floor towards them and climbed up the wall as if it had a life of its own. It formed the image of an imposing woman handling a considerable length of rope. A stern contralto voice spoke to them from the center of darkness.
"Now is not the time for you to rest, my little ones. Your long night's ordeal is just beginning."
There followed a low chuckle. Then it built to a convulsive laughter that filled the room. And then to hysterical howls of malevolence emitting from the nether depths.......
